DURANGO, Colo. – Work to replace Bear Creek Bridge on County Road 501 will begin Mon., Sept. 29. La Plata County has contracted CRG Construction Inc. for the project.

The existing timber bridge will be replaced by a precast concrete bridge at a total cost of $961,301.05, of which $350,000 is funded by a grant from the Local Government Gaming Impact fund.

Regular working hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Traffic will be routed through a one lane detour while work is in progress. Delays of up to 20 minutes should be anticipated; however, every attempt will be made to minimize traffic delays during peak morning and afternoon commuting hours. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution through the work zone for their own safety and the safety of the work crews.

The bridge replacement is scheduled for completion by Nov. 14, 2008.  For additional information, contact Aaron McKelvey, 970.382.6379, or  mckelveyar@co.laplata.co.us.
