Got News? DurangoDowntown.com wants to know.
In an effort to offer a current supply of news, events and specials from in and around Durango at the click of a mouse, DurangoDowntown.com has launched a special community “News” page at www.durangodowntown.com/news.
“It is designed to be a one-stop-shop for need-to-know information for Durango residents, and those who wish they were residents,” said Sheri Amass, owner of Creative Links, the Durango-based web design firm that has created and is offering the service. “An increasing number of people are gathering their news and doing research on the web. We wanted to make that as easy as possible, as well as offer a new venue for disseminating local information. We hope people will set this as their internet home page so they are constantly in touch with what is going on.”
The new Durango News section offers direct feeds of headlines from the Durango Herald and Durango Telegraph, as well as USA Today headlines and CNN Money news, and more. Accuweather.com features current Durango weather and forecasts. Site features under construction include an “emergency” flash that will alert visitors of fires, power outages and other “real time” happenings.
Special feature stories, written by local, award-winning journalist Indiana Reed, are a central focus of the page. Various sections offer news from local restaurants, non-profit organizations and businesses. Press releases and photos are welcome for consideration and may be submitted to the on-line news bureau at info@durangodowntown.com.
“We truly want to encourage businesses and organizations to submit their ‘news’ and announcements,” said Amass. “That’s the beauty of the web, we have no space constraints. As we populate the site, an increasing amount of information will be available. The future is unlimited.”
The site also boasts an easy-to-use online community calendar – a comprehensive, interactive calendar of special events and community activities, including restaurant specials, live entertainment, children’s events and more. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to post their own events using a convenient submission form on the web site. Movie tickets from the Gas Light and High Five theaters may be purchased and printed from the site as well.
Further, Durango e-Coupons is part of the DurangoDowntown.com site, offering literal online coupons for grocery items, restaurants, and retail and business services. For information see www.DurangoDowntown.com/ecoupons.
Creative Links’ DurangoDowntown.com web site is the only local community web site that offers comprehensive access to news, event calendars, local specials, coupons and other community information and business resources.
For further information, visit www.durangodowntown.com or www.creativelinks.com, or contact Sheri Amass at (970) 259-0172 or info@durangodowntown.com. Creative Links is physically located in the Smiley Building, adjacent to The Smiley Garden along historic E. Third Ave., Durango.
An online media kit is available at www.durangodowntown.com/media.
