DURANGO, Colo. – The City of Durango’s Fall Cleanup, which offers city residents an opportunity to conveniently dispose of cumbersome household refuse and yard waste, begins Mon., Oct. 6.
All items for pickup should be placed either curbside or in the alley without blocking the traffic lane. Residents are asked to separate tree limbs, brush and clean lumber waste, which can be shredded for mulch, from the refuse and trash. The following will NOT be accepted: computers, televisions, rocks, batteries, tires, paint, waste oil/filters, pesticides, hazardous waste and liquid waste.
Items should not be placed on or near gas meters, fire hydrants, overhead wires, power poles or small trees and shrubs that may be damaged during pickup. Materials should be set out for pickup on the weekend prior to the date a resident’s area is scheduled for collection.
The fall cleanup pickup schedule is:
Week of October 6 - Areas to the west, including Crestview, Needham, Rockridge and Junction Street.
Week of October 13 - Areas to the east, including Riverview, North College, Hillcrest and Skyridge.
Week of October 20 - Areas from Park Avenue north, both east and west of Main Avenue, including the Animas City neighborhood.
Week of November 3 - Areas south of 15th Street and west of 9th Avenue, including residential areas of Highway 160 West and East (Three Springs) located within the City limits.
