La Plata County to host open house about 80-acre drilling proposal Aug. 27

DURANGO, Colo. – La Plata County will host an open house concerning the proposal by BP America Production Company (BP) to apply to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for an additional 80-acre development of the Fruitland coalbed methane Formation in La Plata County. 

The event is set for Wed., Aug. 27, 6 p.m. at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 Main Ave., Durango. The open house is designed to provide opportunity for property owners to learn about the infill proposal and share their concerns with BP and La Plata County staff. BP representatives will provide an overview of the proposed application, answer questions and discuss issues of concern to property owners.

BP’s application covers an area that includes 113 current 320-acre spacing units.  Citizens may refer to the La Plata County Website (http://co.laplata.co.us) to view a map of the subject lands.  BP will also provide copies of the map at the open house.
