DURANGO, Colo. - Enjoy a festive evening with a rare evening excursion onboard a turn-of-the-century Presidential-class train.
The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is offering its annual New Year's Eve excursion to Cascade Canyon aboard lantern-lit cars. Live entertainment, hors d’ouevres, cash bar, party favors and complimentary champagne at midnight are included. New this year is the Family Car for those who would like to ring in the New Year with younger loved ones.
The evening begins with a reception in the D&S Museum, 6:30-7:30 p.m., featuring the live music of Tim Guidotti, light appetizers, and a cash bar. Mrs. Camp's Town Ladies and Gents dressed in their authentic Victorian attire will also be on hand.
The evening continues on board the train with an 8 p.m. departure from Durango. Live entertainment continues as Guidotti strolls through the cars and serenades. Guests also receive glow sticks, party favors and New Year's Eve hats and tiaras. At midnight, all guests will receive a complimentary glass of champagne or Sparkling cider to toast in the New Year. The bubbly will be served in an etched souvenir D&S champagne flute. Expected return time in Durango is 12:30 a.m. January 1, 2009.
