DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – Firefighters from La Plata County honored their fallen brothers and sisters on 9/11 in a unique stair climb.
Upper Pine Fire, Durango Fire and Farmington firefighters gathered at the bottom of the Sky Steps in Durango on Tuesday.
In full gear, crew members climbed the 500 step staircase three times — the same height as the Twin Towers.
The Sky Steps lead from downtown Durango to the Fort Lewis College.
They say they paused at the top to reflect.
