EVENT DESCRIPTION

July 4th celebration in Historic Downtown Durango will feature a whole weekend of fastivities and events! Things will kick off on Friday in Buckley Park with Outdoor Movie Night featuring Sandlot. The night will include music by Stillwater Youth Bands and Bike Decorating for the 4th of July Parade.

On Saturday evening at the transit center, kick up your heels for a Street Dance and watch the drone show. On Sunday, stop by the Powerhouse Science Center for a free music event called Rockin’ on the River featuring Elder Grown. And for the big event on July 4th this day will be packed with multiple events including an All American Breakfast at Rotary park, free music at Buckley park, picnic, concerts, fun bike and running races and capped off with the 4th of July parade down Historic Main Avenue!

Weekend Schedule:

Friday, July 1, 7:00 pm: Stillwater Youth Bands, Outdoor Movie Night showing Sandlot, and Bike Decorating for the 4th of July Parade at Buckley Park

Saturday, July 2, 6:00pm: Street Dance, Drone Show at Durango Transit Center

Sunday, July 3, 4:00pm: Rockin’ on the River with Dana Ariel & Coming Up Roses at The Powerhouse Center

Monday, July 4: The Big Day!

  • 7:30am – 11:00am: All American Gourmet Breakfast & Libations at Rotary Park
  • 9:00am: Start Animas River Trail Freedom 5K Run at Rotary Park
  • 9:15am – 10:30am: Free Concert in the Park featuring Southwest Civic Winds at Rotary Park
  • 9:30am: Cascade Canyon Express excursions, D&SNG Railroad
  • 11:30am – 4:30pm: Annual 4th of July Picnic & Concerts at Buckley Park
  • 3:45pm – 5:00pm: The Main Ave Mile bike and running races in Downtown Durango on Main Avenue
  • 5:00pm – 6:00pm: Stars & Stripes Parade on Main Avenue
  • 7:30pm: Lyle Lovett & His Large Band at La Plata County Fairgrounds

On July 4th, 2022, be part of Mild to Wild’s 4th of July Rafting Parade that flows through the heart of Durango on the Lower Animas River. If you book a rafting trip online for that day, you’ll be a part of the parade! Everyone will be dressed in festive patriotic attire and fun little gadgets will be given out.
