Durango May Events

May is the beginning of Durango’s summer celebrations. With warmer days for outdoor events, you won’t want to miss these fun activities.

On May 1st, the Powerhouse Science Center in hosting Rockin’ on the River. This live concert will be featuring Lavalanche and more to come for five Sundays this summer! While the event is free, there will be a bar open for drink purchases. This lively event right next to the Animas River will surely be full of good music and great times.

Tico Time River Resort offers a prime festival venue with its camp sites, activities, and stage to enjoy a plethora of different bands. In May, they will be hosting three festivals starting with the Sangha Fest on the 5th – 8th, followed by the Bluegrass Festival the 12th – 15th, and finally the Reggae Festival 19th – 22nd. While these three festivals focus on different genres, they all promise community centered fun-filled times! The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is a Durango staple and is celebrating the 50th Annual Race this coming month. There will be over ten biking events including road, gravel, and mountain terrain. This also includes the infamous Quarter Horse from Durango to Purgatory, Iron Horse from Durango to Silverton, and a new addition of a race/tour from Ouray to Silverton. This event takes over Durango and the surrounding area for the weekend with high energy bike culture!
