WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST THIS

EVENING…

* WHAT…Moderate to heavy snow at times. Additional snow
accumulations of 4 to 8 inches favoring the southern San Juan
mountains above 9500 feet and some south facing slopes. Winds
gusting as high as 45 mph above timberline.

* WHERE…Southwest San Juan Mountains and Northwest San Juan
Mountains.

* WHEN…Until 11 PM MST this evening.

* IMPACTS…Travel will be difficult at times. A detailed map of
the snowfall can be found at: www.weather.gov/gjt/winter.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Snow and Icy Rain is projected for our Durango Area over this weekend.  With the chance of showers increasing through the night, evening temperatures may drop to 43 degrees F on Friday night and 29 degrees on Saturday night.  Thunderstorms are expected on Saturday.

TO 11 AM MST SUNDAY... 
 
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches 
with locally higher amounts possible. Winds gusting as high as 
60 mph are possible. 
 
* WHERE...Western Mosquito Mountain Range, Eastern Sawatch 
Mountains, and East Lake County Above 11000 Feet, and Western 
Chaffee County Between 9000 and 11000 Feet. 
 
* WHEN...From 5 PM Saturday to 11 AM MST Sunday. 
 
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow 
could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause 
tree damage.

In Durango, Sunday night and Monday are our two best nights for snow with Monday night getting down to a chilling temperature of 9 degrees Fahrenheit, which will be the coldest time of the week,  Some of the higher peaks may get a half a foot of snow… let’s hope so!!
