Durango has a rich western history and cowboy culture is still a big part of our community today. The True Western Roundup provides weekly entertainment throughout the summer at the La Plata County Fairgrounds starting June 8th.
The stands fill up as classic events are showcased such as Saddle Bronc Riding, Breakaway Roping, Mutton Bustin’, Steer Riding, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and Bull Riding. On August 3rd, a freestyle bull fighting challenge will be held, and a ranch rodeo and western style variety on August 10th. There are vendors providing food, drinks, and souvenirs too!
