Axis Health System (Axis) and San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) are partnering to provide drive-through COVID-19 testing at the La Plata Integrated Healthcare clinic which is located at 1970 E 3rd Avenue in Durango next to the Durango Public Library. Drive-through community testing will be available Wednesday’s from 10am-4pm by appointment only. Testing will start on Wednesday, June 10th and continue through August 26th.

Because this will be a drive-through testing site, appointments are required to manage traffic concerns and distancing requirements. Please call La Plata Integrated Healthcare at 970-335-2288 to make an appointment. Quick facts about this community testing effort:

  • No referrals or doctors’ orders are needed.
  • Testing is open to all members of the community.
  • There is no fee for this testing.

The COVID-19 tests have been provided by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) in an effort to expand community testing efforts throughout Colorado. Individuals who are part of this community testing effort will be contacted by a medical provider from La Plata Integrated Healthcare with their results.

“La Plata Integrated Healthcare is excited to partner with SJBPH to offer drive-thru community testing in La Plata County. We hope that this additional testing capacity will help to provide clarity to those who are concerned about possible exposure or illness. Testing will also help the community continue to refine the efforts on containing the spread of the virus. The increased testing data and tracking of positive results through our partnership with SJBPH will assist in keeping our communities safe,” said Dr. Luke Casias, Medical Director at Axis.

“We are pleased to partner with Axis Health System to expand testing in La Plata County,” said SJBPH Executive Director, Liane Jollon. “We sincerely appreciate how hard our community has worked to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and encourage them to continue to do so by taking advantage of this testing opportunity,” Jollon said. “Diagnostic testing is the cornerstone of controlling the spread of the disease and a key factor in keeping communities safe and healthy,” she said.
