Purgatory Opens Saturday

It’s the time of the year many locals wait in eager anticipation to arrive—ski season! We had snow dust around town this week, which heightens the excitement of winter and skiing. Purgatory Resort opens Saturday, November 17, and it’s right in time for Thanksgiving.

Purgatory offers a few unique specials this year, as well. One of the biggest is that kids under 10 receive a free season pass this year! This is an amazing way for locals to raise kids with the ability to learn to ski and snowboard. This pass works at Purgatory, Hesperus, Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort, and Snowbowl. Also, seniors over age 80 receive a free lift ticket every day. For those who have never skied or snowboarded, they can receive a free four-hour group lesson with the purchase of one full-day, full-price lift ticket.

Purgatory is a complete resort with restaurants, shopping options, a day spa, and more.

We are so thankful to have a local ski resort with everything Purgatory offers. Its close proximity to town makes an easy day trip for locals, and with the extensive lodging in both downtown Durango and the resort itself, it’s a perfect getaway for those who don’t live here. Add in the unique specials and offers this year, and it’s one of Durango’s best features, both for winter and summer.
