55th Annual Hesperus Ski Patrol Ski Swap

Ski season is just around the corner, and this weekend is a local tradition—the 55th Annual Ski Swap organized by the Hesperus Ski Patrol. On Saturday November 3 from 8-3, almost 20 vendors will sell new and used ski/snowboard equipment at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. These vendors come from Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. In addition, the public has the option to sell gear, which can allow some amazing deals and a ton of variety in equipment. Other items for sale include: hiking gear, backpacks, car racks, and more. There are over 10,000 items for sale!

If you volunteer, you get the opportunity to shop Friday night. The cost to sell gear is $1 per item, and items must cost at least $5.

We love Hesperus Ski Area—it’s local and small, and perfect for a short day trip skiing or snowboarding. The Hesperus Ski Patrol has been promoting safe ski practices and EMS services for 50 years! They are a member of the National Ski Patrol, and are all volunteer-run. The ski swap allows them to buy equipment and supplies, maintain their patrol room facility, and continue training education. One prominent topic the ski patrol address is avalanche awareness—a relevant topic for Southwest Colorado outdoors.

Take a look at their website for more information. If you’re looking for some great deals on new equipment, the Hesperus Ski Swap is the place to go: http://www.hesperusskipatrol.org/ski-swap
