Durango Bluegrass Meltdown

It’s time to celebrate another local favorite event! This weekend, April 12-14, the 25th Annual Durango Bluegrass Meltdown takes the stage. Events will be held at various locations throughout town: Henry Strater Theatre, Durango Arts Center, Wild Horse Saloon, and Animas City Theatre. Saturday and Sunday, there will also be workshops available. Topics include: mandolin, banjo, songwriting, old time, guitar, fiddle, Wernick method adult jam, and even a kids jam!

The Meltdown kicks of Friday evening with a free concert at the D&SNGRR Grange Building. The Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble and The Fellowship of the Strings will perform on Friday. Another of the favorite local events is the Band Showcase, which will be held Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. This is a great place to see bands that don’t perform on the main stage. Saturday evening the Super Jam will be at the Henry Strater Theatre, and this chance to watch spontaneous live music is always a unique opportunity. The Old Time Barn Dance at the Elks Lodge is a fun event for all ages, and will be held on Saturday evening. There are other events, as well, such as the Gospel Set and Late Night Show.

The Bluegrass Meltdown is a great example of what we love about Durango. Jamming and Bar Gigs throughout the weekend can be found throughout town, letting the whole downtown area feel like they can participate and enjoy the festival. Durango is full of exciting events and festivals, and this is a fun one for visitors and locals alike. Take a look at the event website for more information: https://durangomeltdown.com/
