Each week we feature a lifestyle blog on activities in and around Durango. This week, our feature is not on a Durango activity, but It’s a local favorite place to visit: Lake Powell. Many of us venture to Lake Powell throughout the year—whether for fishing, hiking, or boating and water activities, there is a plethora of adventure. Best of all, the lake is open now!

Lake Powell is over 2,000 miles of shoreline and is about 186 miles long. With long, winding canyons and warm days, it’s a perfect summer adventure, and there’s enough space to spread out and enjoy nature. They are also paying attention to recommended guidelines for COVID-19 and have modified some of the operations in accordance. There are several places to go at Lake Powell, many from Durango go to Halls Crossing. The marina features campgrounds, a marina store, and even a ferry that can pull vehicles to Bullfrog Marina, where there is a hotel, houseboat rentals, powerboat rentals and more. Page, Arizona is at the other end of the lake, but is a town and offers a variety of hotels and restaurants as well as houseboat rentals and camping and the largest marina on the lake.

Without a doubt, this is one of our favorite local treasures and offers an easy and fun getaway for the entire family.
