New!  Online Vehicle Registration for Renewals

Durango, CO – La Plata County Clerk and Recorder Tiffany Lee Parker is pleased to announce that La Plata County citizens now have the option to renew their vehicle registration online by credit card or e-check at www.colorado.gov/revenue/dmv.

This new online service is quick and easy.  To renew online, vehicle owners must provide the license plate number, a credit card number or checking account information (for e-checks) and a valid email address.  The online renewal service is hosted by Colorado.gov and it does include a non-refundable Portal Administration Fee of 2.70% of the total transaction amount if paid by credit card, or $1.00 per transaction if paid by e-check. This online service receives no federal, state or local tax dollars, and therefore Portal Administration fees are used to pay for overhead costs, and to develop, maintain, and enhance the state’s official web portal, Colorado.gov.

Vehicle owners will still receive their renewal card in the mail to the address of record as a courtesy to remind them that their vehicle registration is due.  As always, citizens can mail or deliver their renewal to the La Plata County Clerk & Recorder’s office at 98 Everett Street, Suite A, Durango, CO 81303 or to the Bayfield Motor Vehicle Branch at 1199 Bayfield Parkway, Bayfield, CO 81122.  If the registration renewal requires proof of insurance, if there is a change of address or if the registration is late, renewals cannot be completed online and must be done through the local offices.

For any questions, please contact the La Plata County Clerk & Recorder’s Office at 970-382-7075.
