Twenty years ago a friend took me to Carver’s. Food was great then and food is great now. Yes, on a any given day Carver’s is still cranking out yummy food. And yes they offer a variety of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner– and are always working to keep their menu new and interesting.
Carver’s is a local success story with a variety of delicious food options. They take pride in their award-winning handcrafted beers, and even offer their own “homemade” root beer! Operating initially as a bakery in Durango in 1986, in 1988 the brewery was opened… making Carvers the first brewery in the 4 Corners since prohibition.
Recently, I had the pleasure of lunch there with friends Amy and Dave. Amy is a land and water attorney here in Durango and Dave is a salesman from Chicago. These music enthusiasts met at a Grateful Dead concert in Chicago, and now appreciate each other’s company.
Lunch was great as always… Amy tried the Shrimp Po Boy… but as a wrap. The staff happily made this change which is great for carb watchers. We also tried their Ceaser Salad and their Tatanka burger which is made from buffalo… all was yummy, including the draft beer.
Carver’s has a pleasant atmosphere and the wait staff is pleasant and personable. With the largest patio in Durango, and located downtown at 1022 Main Avenue– they give a convenient spot to enjoy some of Colorado’s famous sunshine. Who could ask for more? Desert? Yes that is good too. So wander on in, bring your friends and tell them Sam sent you. Thanks CARVER’s for 20 great years!
