Highlight of the week

Tickets are on sale now for the 37th season of Music in the Mountains summer classical music festival, July 6 through July 30.

This season, expect a lineup of performances featuring orchestra, chamber music and free community concerts of classical and world music. Artistic Director and Conductor Guillermo Figueroa, has assembled all-star soloists from around the globe to bring them to Durango and surrounding communities for four weeks of performances with the Festival Orchestra. The lineup of guest soloists includes: Philippe Quint and Erin Schreiber, violin; Nestor Torres, flute; Aviram Reichert, Mariano Morales and Tony DeSare, piano; Jason Vieaux, classical guitar; Richard Kaufman, guest Pops conductor, and more.

This year’s orchestral concerts will be performed in the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Other venues include Sky Ute Casino Event Center, Glacier Club, First Presbyterian Church and many public park spaces.
