EVENT DESCRIPTION

July 4th celebration in Historic Downtown Durango will feature a whole weekend of festivities and events! Things will kick off on Saturday, July 1st at the 11th Street Station with a watermelon eating contest. The night will also include live music!

On Saturday evening at the 11th Street Station, get ready to dance like no one is watching during a live concert and silent disco. On Sunday, stop by Rotary Park for a free Jazz Orchestra event starting at 6:00pm. On Monday, kick up your heels for a movie in the park at Buckley Park. And for the big event on July, 4th, get ready to have an amazing time. This day will be packed with multiple events including an All American Breakfast at Rotary park, free music at Buckley Park, picnic, concerts, fun running races and to cap the night off the annual 4th of July parade will take place down Historic Main Avenue!

Weekend Schedule:

Saturday, July 1: The beginning of the Festivities!

  • 12:00pm – 3:00pm: Independent Food Truck Celebration at the La Plata Fairgrounds & Event Center
  • 2:30pm: Oscar’s Cafe Pie Eating Contest at the La Plata County Fairgrounds
  • 4:00pm – 6:00pm: Watermelon Eating Contest at 11th Street Station
  • 9:00pm – 11:00pm: Live Concert and Silent Disco at 11th Street Station

Sunday, July 2:

  • 9:00am – 11:00am: Durango Breakfast at VFW Post 4031
  • 5:00pm – 7:00pm: Ice Cream Social at VFW Post 4031
  • 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Southwest Civic Winds Concert at Rotary Park

Monday, July 3:

  • 3:00pm: Apple Pie Baking Contest at EsoTerra Ciderworks
  • 7:00pm: Live Music with the Drama Club at Buckley Park
  • 8:15pm: A Performance from Durango Aerial and Acrobatics at Buckley Park
  • 9:00pm: A Free Screening of The Sandlot at Buckley Park

Tuesday, July 4: The Big Day!

  • 7:30am – 10:30am: All American Gourmet Breakfast & Libations at Rotary Park
  • 9:00am – 11:00am: Start Animas River Trail Freedom 5K Run at Rotary Park
  • 9:15am – 10:30am: Free Concert in the Park featuring Southwest Civic Winds at Rotary Park
  • 12:00pm – 4:30pm: Building Homes for Heroes Picnic
  • 6:00pm – 9:30pm: A Street Dance Performance with Free Live Music, Food and Beer Available for Purchase
  • 9:15pm: 4th of July Drone Show with Custom and Patriotic Formations
