A celebration of the songwriters takes the stage on March 28

Durango, CO – A celebration of the songwriters, Nashville Chicks wit Hits, featuring three of Nashville’s top female songwriters, comes to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College, Saturday, Mar. 28, 2015, 7:30 p.m. Sherrié Austin, Kylie Sackley and Alissa Moreno will perform their hits and tell the stories behind the songs.

Aussie native Sherrié Austin has been in the entertainment business since she was a teenager, opening for Johnny Cash in Australia at the age of 14. Moving to the United States, she landed acting roles on “The Facts of Life” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” and signed her first record deal shortly after moving to Nashville. Her solo debut album, Words, was released in 1997. “Lucky in Love,” “One Solitary Tear” and “Put Your Heart Into It” all charted within the Top 40. Additional highly charted albums followed.

In 2005, Austin headed to Broadway and was cast in both Bonnie & Clyde and Ring of Fire – the Johnny Cash Musical Show. In Nashville, she continued to earn cuts from her country music peers such as Trace Adkins (“If I Were a Woman”), Tim McGraw (“Shotgun Rider”), and Blake Shelton (“Startin’ Fires”), among others. In 2011, she returned to television as a main cast member in “Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys.”

Kylie Sackley currently resides in Nashville, more than 10,000 miles from her hometown in Queensland, Australia where she won the 2002 Country Music Association of Australia’s coveted “Best New Talent” a.k.a. CMA Horizon Award. At the time, Sackley was just a teenager coming off her successful Australian run as the country’s winner of “Star Maker.”

Following the success of her debut single, “Love’s like a Train,” Sackley took home the CMAA’s “Best New Talent,” then ventured to Nashville to further develop her talents as a songwriter and break into the US market as a performing artist. Her success in Nashville has been solid, working as a staff songwriter for Faith Hill producer Scott Hendricks’ Big Tractor Music Publishing, plus LeAnn Rimes recorded her song “Nothin’ Bout Love Makes Sense.”

Originally from New Mexico, Alissa Moreno wrote the Grammy nominated and CMT Video of the Year song “Every Day” for Rascal Flatts. She has collaborated with noteworthy music industry veterans including Matt Scannell of Vertical Horizon, songwriter/producers Jamie Houston, Alex Da Kidd, Harvey Mason Jr., and many more.

Moreno’s music has also been featured on MTV hit shows including, “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills.” In addition to co-writing and singing the theme of the ABC show “Hope & Faith” (second season), her song “Far From Here” promoted the hit series “Army Wives” from the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy.” A piano and vocal talent, she was the vocal coach for Ben Affleck’s award winning performance in the film “Hollywoodland.” She is also an actress, appearing in commercials and indie films.
