PARTY IN THE PARK – Saturday July 16th

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! This Saturday, July 16th –

Party in the Park all afternoon! KSUT, Music in the Mountains and The Wells Group present Stooges Brass Band and four other groups at our 2016 Party in the Park.

For the first time, Party in the Park is an all afternoon event!

KSUT Public Radio, Music in the Mountains, and The Wells Group present 5 bands on Saturday, July 16. Last year’s event was a huge success as over 700 people packed into Buckley Park in downtown Durango to dance to the horn-and-percussion-driven World and Latin sounds of Todo Mundo. This year, Party in the Park brings you music all afternoon into the evening, ranging from classical and chamber to Latin and flamenco to New Orleans funk and jazz.

Gates open at 1pm on Saturday, July 16. The music begins at 2pm with Cezanne Quartet kicking off the afternoon, followed by Durango’s own Durango Funk All-Stars at 3pm. A symphonic community band hits the stage at 4pm – Southwest Civic Winds. Jarabe Mexicano follows at 5:30pm and plays an hour and a half set before the headliner, Stooges Brass Band, hits the stage at 7pm for “one of the most entertaining, audience-interactive shows” coming out of New Orleans (bestofneworleans.com).

Tickets cost $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show and are on sale at the Music in the Mountains festival office (1063 Main Ave in downtown Durango), by calling 970-385-6820 or online at the Music in the Mountains website. Preferred Seating (includes a chair in a roped section with optimal views of the stage) will be available for $35 in advance and $40 the day of the show. All advance tickets must be purchased before midnight Friday, July 15th.

There will be plenty of food and beverages for sale, including Zia Taqueria, Bounty for the Belly, the Purple Ice Cream Truck, and a bratwurst and hot dog grill staffed by KSUT and Music in the Mountains volunteers. Beer from Ska Brewing, signature cocktails from Durango Craft Spirits, and an assortment of wines will also be sold. And check out our silent auction featuring KSUT and MITM concert tickets, Osprey packs, and other souvenirs.
