A Call to Durango Studio Artists

Durango Open Studios seeks artists for 2nd Annual Event

 

 

Durango Open Studios (DOS) is a one-weekend event for local artists to open their studios to the public. DOS supports and educates the public to the wide range of arts and artists working in our community, promotes local arts to a connected base and growing audience for contemporary and traditional culture. Currently focusing on the visual arts, it is DOS’ goal to include all forms of art-visual, music and performance.

This year’s event is scheduled to round out and conclude the Durango Showcase of the Arts during prime fall colors: September 18 & 19, 2010. Artists seeking to participate have an opportunity to register. Early registration is encouraged and rewarded. The first deadline for registration is March 15 with a $100 nonrefundable fee. More time is allotted for later registrations (through May 1) but the fee is bumped incrementally over time to $200.

This event is open to all artists, working in all genres and mediums, residing and creating in Durango Colorado. For artists unable to open their personal spaces, we encourage the use of alternative venues for individual and group exhibitions.

Artists will be promoted and the event will be marketed through many venues prior to and during the event. A full color catalogue/guide of participating artists will be created and provided to artists and sponsors for distribution. In addition, artists participating in Durango Open Studios are asked to supply 1-3 pieces of their original artwork to be displayed during the month of September at the Durango Arts Center for a preview show.
