Community Concert Hall welcomes high energy Recycled Percussion
Durango, CO – The high energy Las Vegas entertainment group Recycled Percussion comes to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College Thursday, April 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. Reminiscent of the musical Stomp, the four-man team delivers an all-ages show featuring percussion instruments made up of items more likely found at a junkyard than in a band room, including power tools, car parts, vacuums and jumbo aluminum ladders.
Since Justin Spencer formed Recycled Percussion in 1995 for a high school talent show in rural New Hampshire, the band’s junk rock music has become a national and international phenomenon. Week after week during the 2009 “America’s Got Talent,” the performers wowed the audience as they topped each previous performance.
Jason Davies serves as the show’s DJ with Matt Bowman on the electric guitar. Ryan Vezina and Justin Spencer play the drums at rapid-fire speed and perform most of the acrobatic stunts. Each of the members spends hours each day in training or an athletic endeavor to help keep them at the top of their game. New inspirations for pieces in the act emerge during their travels, so the show continues to evolve.
As noted by Today in Las Vegas, “Solid performers and equally good musicianship allows this show to change from show to show with nuances that only professionals know how to pull off.”
After being featured on the cover of USA Today and being voted National Act of the Year a record-breaking six times, the band gained world-wide recognition. Playing more than 4,000 shows and in excess of 400 corporate events in more than 15 countries, the group has also done guest appearances on “Carson Daly,” “The Today Show,” “China’s Got Talent,” and the Latin Grammy Awards.
In 2010, Recycled Percussion found a permanent home as a Las Vegas headliner. The group continues to elevate the energy level, create new performance elements and bring junk rock music to the Las Vegas Strip nightly at The Quad Resort and Casino.
