EVENT DESCRIPTION

Animas River Days is dedicated to celebrating the Animas River’s role in Durango by providing a venue for public gathering with whitewater competitions as well as community outreach about river resources and conservation. Events take place throughout downtown Durango. For more information, call (970) 259-3583.

Animas River Days includes these sporting events: river surfing, stand-up paddling, freestyle kayaking, boatercross, raft and kayak slalom, an inflatable rodeo and the local’s favorite costumed river parade.

Come play with JK at the Whitewater Park

3:30 – 5:00 PM Rock Out with Team JK
Women’s rolling clinic with Jackson Kayak

5:00 – 8:00 PM Kick-Off Party & Silent Auction
Live music and annual silent auction at Ska Brewing

7:00 AM Athlete Registration Opens
Pre-register online starting May 19
Online registrants pick up bibs at the Event Pavilion

8:00 – 10:00 AM Canoe and Kayak Slalom
Athlete Meeting at 7:45 AM

10:00 – 11:00 AM Downriver SUP Race
Athlete Meeting at 9:45 AM

11:00 – 12:30 PM R4 Raft Slalom
Athlete Meeting at 10:45 AM. Teams will consist of 4 people in a standard raft 12-14′. Teams can be co-ed and will race in a single class. Boats will not be provided.

2:45 – 4:30 PM SUP/Surf Competition
Athlete Meeting at 2:30 PM

4:30 – 6:30 PM River Parade Viewing Party
No public parking at Santa Rita Park. Take the free shuttle from Durango Transit Center or ride your bike.  

9:00 PMLate Night Party
Booty-shaking dance party with Posh Josh at El Rancho Tavern. No cover, drink specials! 

Sunday, June 5th
10:00 – 11:00 AM Junior Freestyle Kayak
Athlete Meeting at 9:45 AM

11:00 – 12:00 PM Women’s Freestyle Kayak
Athlete Meeting at 9:45 AM

11:00 – 2:00 PM Ska Beer Garden Open

12:30 – 1:30 PM Men’s Freestyle Kayak
Athlete Meeting at 9:45 AM
Each event will have the following classes/run order (with the exception of raft slalom):
Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Women’s Local, Women’s Pro, Men’s Local, Men’s Pro.

Awards immediately follow the conclusion of the event at the Award’s Podium (located near the MC tent).

Food served Saturday, 8:00 am to 7:30 pm by Singletrack Cafe, Good on the Bun, Rang Tang BBQ, and Crazy Coop.
Singletrack Cafe serves food 11:00 am to 2:30 pm on Sunday.
