Arrival From Sweden: the Music of ABBA takes the stage Sept. 26
Community Concert Hall welcomes group considered “most authentic”
Durango, CO – The group celebrated internationally as the “most authentic” ABBA tribute band, Arrival From Sweden, comes to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, 7:30 p.m.
Founded in 1995 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Arrival From Sweden has been touring in the United States since 2007 to sold-out shows, receiving reviews that laud the accuracy of the group. Hit songs such as “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia,” “Take a Chance,” “Waterloo” and more leave audiences amazed that it’s not the original ABBA on stage.
Considered the biggest musical export in the history of Sweden and one of the most successful pop groups, ABBA dominated the music charts in the ’70s and ’80s and sold 370 million records worldwide. ABBA’s legacy has only grown in the decades since the group disbanded. In addition to inspiring the Broadway musical and movie Mamma Mia, ABBA music continues to sell in the millions, ranking the band with Elvis Presley and The Beatles in terms of commercial success.
Arrival From Sweden stands as the only act to actually work with musicians that toured with ABBA in the ’70s. The group also works with the designer Owe Sandström who created, and also owns, all of the original ABBA stage clothes. Arrival From Sweden has the exclusive rights to make exact copies of the clothing for its performances. Further, Arrival From Sweden has been given exclusive rights to an unreleased ABBA song directly from Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA. “Just A Notion” will be released in 2014.
Wrote Ed Farolan, Vancouver News, “You could have sworn you were hearing the original songs being sung by the original group. This sellout show featured one hit after another …There was no interval, except for a few comments from Vicky Zetterberg, the founder of the group. Arrival From Sweden simply gave us a two-hour delightful show with ABBA hits, a real night of nostalgia where the appreciative crowd had the time of their lives.”
Tickets for Arrival From Sweden: The Music of ABBA ($29/$34) are available on-line at www.durangoconcerts.com or call 970.247.7657, or visit the Ticket Office inside the Durango Welcome Center at 8th St. and Main Ave., Downtown Durango. All sales final.
