CATCH THE BEACH BALL THIS SNOWDOWN AT THE DOUBLE TREE

After a three year break the Snowdown Ball is back-but with a twist, it’s open to all ages and this year it’s called the Beach Ball! So head on down to the Double Tree Hotel Ballroom on Saturday, January 30 and dance to the surfing sounds of Jan and Dean, the Beach Boys and many more! The Ball starts at 6:30 pm and goes until midnight. Prices for the fun-filled night are $35 per couple, $20 single, $10 for persons under 18 and children five and younger get in for free. There will be no alcohol served at the event.

“This Beach Ball is a chance to bring people of all ages together, dancing and participating in many planned activities! Also, the proceeds will go towards a half dozen La Plata county youth agencies,” said Peter Tregillus, Southern Ute Community Action Program (SUCAP), programs developer.

The Ball proceeds will go to benefit several La Plata county agencies working for positive youth development: La Plata Youth Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters, SUCAP Youth Services, Boys and Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Lasso Tobacco Coalition and the La Plata Children Youth and Families Master Plan.

Tickets can be purchased at Magpies, 707 Main Avenue in Durango, the Sun Ute Community Center in Ignacio, or online at buzztown.com/store. Some of the activities are a dance, limbo and costume contest, photobooth, sugar cube castle making, and a Wii console will be available for those that want a break from the dancing.

The 2010 Snowdown Beach Ball is sponsored by Wells Fargo, LPEA, Buzztown.com, Basin Reproduction, Mercy Medical Center, Community Foundation serving SW Colorado and Rocky Mountain Health Plan. It is an approved activity of Snowdown.
