Dancing with Durango Stars

Fundraiser for local nonprofit Community Connections, Inc.

Durango, CO – On May 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. the Durango Arts Center will be transformed into a dazzling showcase for Dancing with the Durango Stars!

Thirteen couples performing different dance styles will compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy. Dancers include local musician Tim Sullivan, salsa dance instructor Erin White-Sinberg, Nick Becker, owner of Anytime Fitness in Three Springs, clients from Community Connections and Matt Leeder of Leeder Construction.

Dances to be performed include Rumba, Bachata, Salsa, Lindy Hop, Zydeco, Tango, Cha-Cha-Cha, Swing, Waltz, and Country 2 Step. Mataholla Moon Belly Dance Troupe and the Durango Tango Community will demonstrate.

The event is a fundraiser for local nonprofit Community Connections, Inc. The agency serves over 250 kids, families and adults with developmental disabilities and employs 130 people in the five county area.

Proceeds from the event will be used to provide services for people who are on a wait list but don’t receive services because there are no state or federal funds available. A portion of the proceeds will also be used to provide respite for families caring for individuals who require 24/7 support.
