Duranglers Fly Fishing Festival This Weekend

Friday and Saturday of this weekend is the Duranglers’ Fly Fishing Festival, and it’s full of several fun events. Friday evening will feature comedian Hank Patterson, which should be a both fun and funny evening. This will be at the Henry Strater Theatre, and tickets are $8.

Starting Saturday at 8 a.m., there’s a full day of activities. There will be a fly-tying demo, reps from Hatch Reels, Simms, and Fishpond. At noon, head over to Folsom Park for casting demos. According to Andy at Duranglers, this is a great event for anyone who hasn’t tried to cast a fly fishing pole before. There will be practice and kids are even allowed. The afternoon will also offer a couple of seminars and even best tips for fishing on the San Juan.

It’s an all-day event, and free! The first 30 people through the door receive a free bag of swag; one of them contains a $100 gift card. There will also be door buster sales and drawings throughout the day for giveaways. At 4 p.m. there will be a grand prize drawing for a guided trip with Duranglers.

Fly fishing is a favorite hobby for many in and around Durango, and our proximity to water makes it a worthwhile activity to pursue. At this time of the year Duranglers suggests the San Juan Quality Waters in New Mexico for the best fishing opportunity.

Take a look at the Duranglers website for more details on the festival (https://duranglers.com/2019-duranglers-fly-fishing-festival-schedule-featuring-hank-patterson/). Whatever fly fishing skill level you may be, this is the perfect event to learn more!
