This upcoming weekend and next week is Fiesta Days, one of Durango’s longstanding local traditions. Since 1935, the “Fiesta” has been a popular event. It used to be the Spanish Trails Fiesta, was at one time Navajo Trails Fiesta, and is now Durango Fiesta Days. This celebration offers a rodeo, preserves western heritage, and also showcases the local agricultural history. It’s a full summer event, and such a fun way for the entire family to enjoy Durango and its cultural history.
Saturday, July 21 will be the Fiesta Queen Contest. Next week the Rodeo will host various events each day from Tuesday through Saturday, including: Open Barrel Racing, Team Roping Slack, and other rodeo performances.
On Saturday morning, July 28, the 83rd Annual Durango Fiesta Days Parade occurs, and Sunday July 29 the weekend ends with Cowboy Church and a Cowboy Pancake breakfast.
This is a full week, and one you won’t want to miss. We are always so grateful to live in a place that offers a variety of events and activities. Be sure to check out the rodeo events or parade and enjoy one of Durango’s annual celebrations. Here’s the link for more details and information: http://durangofiestadays.com/
