Hozhoni Days at Fort Lewis College celebrates its 51st year

Durango, CO – Hozhoni Days returns to Fort Lewis College for another year. One of the largest and longest running events at FLC, Hozhoni Days celebrates the more than 150 Native American and Alaska Native tribes and villages represented in the College’s student body.

The festivities begin with the Miss Hozhoni Pageant – Interview Night on Wednesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Each year, a new Miss Hozhoni is chosen from the FLC student body to represent the College’s Native American students, as well as the Wanbli Ota student organization.

The pageant continues with a traditional food presentation on April 8 followed by traditional and modern talent showcases on April 15. Both events take place at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. The Miss Hozhoni Pageant events are free and open to everyone.

On April 16, everyone is invited to a free Round Dance at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.

The culminating event of the month is the Hozhoni Days Pow Wow on April 17-18. Tribes from across the country will gather at Whalen Gym at Fort Lewis College for dancing, drumming and celebration. The winner of the Miss Hozhoni Pageant will also be crowned on April 18.
