Event Description
Join us for a spectacular July 4th celebration in Historic Downtown Durango , featuring a whole weekend of festivities and events! Things kick off on Thursday, July 3rd, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds & Event Center with a thrilling rodeo.
On Friday, July 4th, get ready for an amazing day packed with multiple events. Start your morning with a gourmet breakfast at Rotary Park from 7:30 to 10:30 and live music at Buckley Park beginning at 9 and featuring Southwest Civic Winds and Durango Chorale Society. You can also lace up your running shoes and join your friends at the Freedom 5K run/walk along the Animas River Trail also at Rotary Park at 9:00 am. Experience the festive parade on Main Ave. at 5 followed by more live music and dancing at the Transit Center. Due to ongoing drought conditions, there will be no fireworks show for 2025.

- 9:00am – 11:00am: Start Animas River Trail Freedom 5K Run at Rotary Park
- 9:15am – 10:45am: Free Concert in the Park featuring Southwest Civic Winds at Rotary Park
- 12:00pm – 4:30pm: 4th of July Picnic at Buckley Park
- 3:00pm: Children’s Parade at Buckley Park
- 4:30pm – 5:15pm: Wet & Wild Parade
- 5:00pm – 9:30pm: Independence Day live music and dance at the Transit Center
- 7:00pm: Pro Bull Riding at the La Plata County Fairgrounds

On Friday kick off July 4, 2025 with a gourmet breakfast at Rotary Park, then enjoy live music at Buckley Park. Experience the festive parade on Main Ave., followed by more live music at the Transit Center. The day will go out with a bang with the return of a traditional fireworks show, drought conditions permitting.

Buckley Park is a great destination for a family-friendly day of fun to celebrate July 4th. Enjoy the weekend celebrations with live music at Buckley Park on July 4th and an outdoor movie night at Buckley Park on the 5th.
More Festive Events
Wednesday, July 3rd, as well as the weekend following the 4th, July 5th and 6th, will feature additional celebrations and events. You can expect some fun at this year’s Red White and Bull Rodeo at the True Western Rodeo in town. Plus, festivities will be happening all around town, including a pie-eating contest at Durango Beer and Ice Company and a watermelon-eating contest at 11th Street Station.
