DURANGO, Colo. – KSUT Public Radio presents a special screening of Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio in the Red Shoes, a documentary that takes an intimate look at the man and voice behind one of public radio’s longest standing and most popular shows, A Prairie Home Companion.
Beginning with a big kick-off screening at the Smiley Building, 1309 East Third Ave. in Durango, 6 p.m., Saturday, May 16, KSUT will take the yet unreleased documentary to various venues throughout the Four Corners, including the Dolores Community Center, May 21; the Lavenia McCoy Public Library in Bayfield, May 29; and the Ignacio Public Library, June 5.
More than one year of filming has resulted in an unusual portrait of America‘s foremost humorist and commentator, Keillor. This free form, intimate look at the private man in the public spotlight goes behind the scenes of America‘s most popular radio show and inside the imagination of the man who created it. The film follows the writer-performer as he mingles fact and fiction to create one of America‘s favorite places, Lake Wobegon.
While advance reservations are not required, to reserve up to four tickets, email [email protected]. Print a copy of the ticket confirmation email and bring it to the screening. All tickets are $10. For additional information, visit www.ksut.org.
