My Morning Jacket Plays the Abbey Theatre May 31st
On Tuesday May 31st, 2011 My Morning Jacket (MMJ), The Abbey Theatre, Lightning Communications and Southwest Sound will be teaming up to present My Morning Jackets latest album “Circuital” which will be presented through a live simulcast and broadcast LIVE from the famous Palace Theater in Louisville Kentucky (My Morning Jackets hometown) right here to our own little Abbey Theatre in Durango Colorado. If that isn’t exciting enough in itself, the concert is going to be directed by acclaimed film maker Todd Haynes who has previously worked with Jim James of MMJ in his film “I’m Not There”. Jim James masterfully covered Bob Dylans tune “Going To Acapulco” .
There are a lot of unique things going on with this concert. First off, it’s going to be broadcast in over 100 US cities, Durango being one of them. Also, the band is asking for fans to submit pictures of their eyes that will then be later infused into the concert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNFciVXiqHE Lastly, ATO records and MMJ’s management will be sending out some “prizes” that will be given away at The Abbey the night of the show. Not only will we be giving away tickets to upcoming shows at The Abbey, but there will be some lucky fans who will receive some signed vinyls, cds…tshirts and MMJ tickets are also in the mix.
If you’ve never listened to My Morning Jacket this is a great opportunity to get exposed to one of the greatest bands of all time. If you’re already a fan, come on down and watch this one off concert opportunity the big screen. The last time a band teamed up with American Express to preform an “Unstaged” concert, it was Arcade Fire when they preformed at Madison Square Garden which has spiraled into one of the best recorded concerts of our time. Don’t miss My Morning Jacket, LIVE (kind of) at The Abbey Thearte on May 31st, 2011.
