“Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway” seeking local talent For up-coming Community Concert Hall show

 

DURANGO, Colo. – The producers of “Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway,” coming to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, are seeking local vocalists to perform in the show. One or two soloists and up to 10 chorus members will be selected.

“Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway” recreates the greatest moments from the top shows of the century as a host of Broadway’s stars perform songs from popular musicals such as “Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables,” “Cats,” “Chicago,” “Wicked” and more. Local winners will sing a solo part in the show finale, with runners-up singing one chorus number with the Broadway stars.

Local performers will be selected by a panel of industry professionals based on video auditions. To audition, vocalists are asked to upload to YouTube, MySpace or Facebook a 90 to 120 second video clip of themselves singing a Broadway tune, as well as fill out the on-line audition form. Deadline is Sunday, January 10, 2010, 5 p.m. EST. Winners will be notified by email or phone January 13.

Anyone 13 years or older can audition, and those selected must be available three hours prior to show time on the day of the performance for sound check and rehearsal. 

All runners-up and winners will receive a complimentary pair of tickets and a CD of the show. All entrants receive a 15 percent discount on show tickets.

Tickets for “Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway” – $20 for Balcony, $28 for Orchestra,  $40 for Plaza – are available on the web at www.durangoconcerts.com or by calling 970.247.7657 or 877.282.9992, or at the Ticket Office in Downtown Durango at 7th and Main Ave. All sales final.

Showtime is 7 p.m., with doors to the Concert Hall and concessions, serving beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, opening at 6 p.m.

The Community Concert Hall is located in the growing arts complex of Fort Lewis College.  It operates through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, as well as the city of Durango, and with financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
