“Outrage” Documentary To Be Screened, Panel Discussion to Follow
Sunday, October 11, 2009 – NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY
Durango, CO — To celebrate National Coming Out Day, Four Corners Gay and Lesbian Alliance for Diversity (4CGLAD) and the Durango Independent Film Festival will be screening the documentary OUTRAGE at the Durango Arts Center on Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 5pm – 7pm. The film will be followed by a panel discussion. Tickets will be $10 at the door.
The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City and is currently in limited release around the country. Through the generosity of Magnolia Pictures, 4CGLAD is able to bring this film to the Durango community. OUTRAGE Academy Award nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick delivers a searing indictment of the hypocrisy of closeted
politicians with appalling gay rights voting records who actively campaign against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) community to which they covertly belong.
Boldly revealing the hidden lives of some of the United States’ most powerful policymakers, OUTRAGE takes a comprehensive look at the harm they’ve inflicted on millions of Americans, and examines the media’s complicity in keeping their secrets.
With analysis from prominent members of the gay community such as Congressman Barney Frank, former NJ Governor Jim McGreevey, activist Larry Kramer, radio personality Michelangelo Signorile, and openly gay congresswoman Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin, OUTRAGE probes deeply into the psychology of this double lifestyle, the ethics of outing closeted politicians, the double standards that the media upholds in its coverage of the sex lives of gay public figures, and much more.
