PEEP SHOW!!  Staring The Haute Toddies Burlesque Troop

 

StrOker Ace found herself increasingly drawn into the world of both vintage and contemporary Burlesque. Her obsession drove her into months of research. After a slew of books and documentaries, she was eventually sitting stage-side at local Burlesque shows. StrOker Ace began sharing her love for the art-form with several of her closest friends whose enthusiasm for Burlesque quickly matched her own. Five friends with books, dvds, and a newfound obsession began stacking mirrors in StrOker Ace’s basement; from this, both a makeshift dance studio and The Haute Toddies were formed.

Although members of The Haute Toddies are originally from as far south as New Mexico and as far east as Connecticut, they are a Colorado based crew. Also, all of the members were friends before they were the Burlesque troupe they’ve become; so this relationship, along with each member’s different background in dance of various styles, creates a recognizable on-stage chemistry. Furthermore, their passion for the art-form leads them to countless hours of weekly practices-all with the intention of presenting themselves in a manner that represents their heartfelt reverence for Burlesque.

While The Haute Toddies are self-taught Burlesquers, they are mindful of the history of performers who have shaped the gentle art-form into what it is today. They are also aware that a relationship is shared with the audience and the performer-one in which, as the history has taught them, is best summed up by the saying “any doll can strip, but few can tease.”
