Pub Science Happy Hour at Durango Discovery Museum

Pub Science at the Durango Discovery Museum happens the first Friday of every month from 5:30-7:30. It is intended to be a very casual and fun happy hour, where something cool is bound to happen.
Ska is the beer sponsor and 1887 is the food sponsor. Tickets are $5. In January, the price will increase to $7, but will remain $5 for members. (To learn more about becoming a member visit http://www.durangodiscovery.org/memberships/options/).

The Discovery Museum is a place for curious minds of any age. This event is for anyone 21 and up that is interested in a good time, with an interesting scientific twist in order to pique the imagination and inspire conversation.

Guests arrive at 5:30, get a beer and some food and explore the Museum for a bit. They get to play like a kid. With beer. The “show” starts at about 6 or 6:15. The presentation lasts about 10-15 minutes. The presentation is short and sweet and members of the audience who are interested are invited to engage in further conversation, while those who are not continue eating, drinking and playing. Its a great way to unwind after a long week before heading home, or a great way to begin your evening!

Each month is a different scientific exploration. You’ll find the schedule for the rest of the year on the website (note December has changed to Dueling Mad Scientists; explosives and beer, what can go wrong?). Past presentations include everything from an electricity show to a Local Foods presentation. October 7 will be about storm chasing and we even have a Zumba themed pub science planned for next year.
