Renowned artist LeRoy Neiman featured in Arts Perspective Magazine

Durango, CO – Art Perspective, the independent quarterly magazine covering the arts throughout Southwest Colorado and the Four Corners, has received a unique and special honor – permission to feature a work from renowned painter LeRoy Neiman, considered the world’s most recognizable contemporary artist, on the cover of its summer 2012 issue. The issue will be released in hard copy this week and is available on-line at www.artsperspective.com.

“We are more than thrilled to be able to feature LeRoy Neiman’s work on our cover,” said Denise Leslie, the magazine’s editor/publisher. “This type of thing just doesn’t happen. His works have rarely ever been allowed to be reproduced in publications. We’ve themed the summer edition ‘Sport,’ and Mr. Neiman is indelibly intertwined with ‘sports,’ so we truly appreciate this opportunity.”

LeRoy Neiman is recognized for marrying fine art to popular art with his brilliantly colored, energetic depictions of sports, celebrities, America at play, life on safari, and famous locations. The Arts Perspective cover art features Neiman’s rendition of the Opening Ceremonies of the 1984 Summer Olympics, held in Los Angeles.

The Arts Perspective coverage also coincides with the release of Neiman’s memoir, All Told: My Art and Life Among Athletes, Playboys, Bunnies, and Provocateurs, in conjunction with his 91st birthday on June 8, 2012. Durango-based writer Stew Mosberg had the opportunity to interview the iconic artist for Arts Perspective, and his feature appears in the magazine.

“This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Leslie. “We’ve enjoyed working with Mr. Neiman’s team, and I know our readers will enjoy learning a little more about this fabulous American treasure.”

Shared Vision Publishing, publisher of Arts Perspective, was founded in 2004 on the idea that it takes a shared vision to create a successful connection between arts and culture.
