ROCKY HORROR SHOW LIVE ON STAGE

Takes a 50s Twist-at the Henry Strater Theatre
October 27th, 28th & 29th

Durango, Color. Once again the Henry Strater Theatre presents Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show: Live On Stage with an all-star local and out-of-town cast performing. This is the fourth year the Henry Strater Theatre has brought the Rocky Horror Show: Live On Stage to Durango. Performances will be held October 27th (8pm), 28th (7pm & 10pm), and 29th (6pm & 9pm) at the Henry Strater Theatre inside the Strater Hotel. This year’s show will be more in line with the tradition of the original Rocky Horror Picture Show, but with a unique twist said Emily Flood, Stage & Front of House Manager.

“Jenny Fitts-Reynolds, our Director, always likes to do something a little different than the previous year,” said Ms. Flood. “We work to exceed the expectations of our audience and give them a really unique Rocky Horror experience, which they will definitely get this year with the theme direction we are taking-sort of a twisted, whimsical take on a 50’s Soda Shoppe. Last year the theme was based in the 1970s, so you can only imagine how different our show will be this year.”

The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered in 1975 at the Westwood Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and was considered to be a flop. Since it’s revival in 1976 at the Waverly Theatre when Louis Farese, a kindergarten teacher from Staten Island yelled, “Buy an umbrella…!” the Rocky Horror Picture Show has become a cult-classic followed by millions of fans around the world. 2011 will be the 36th year of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Following tradition, audience members are encouraged to dress as their favorite Rocky Horror character and to purchase their tickets early due to shows usually selling out. Tickets are $18 for Students (must present a student ID), and $20 for adults prior to show and $25 for adults at the door. Goodie bags will be available for purchase for $5, and filled with typical Rocky Horror items. Guests are asked to not throw anything at the stage for safety reasons, nor to bring their own Rocky Horror props to throw.
