Rural Scenes-A Must See
Rural Scenes-A Must See
Photography by Lou Swenson
Lou Swenson, a well known and collected, Dolores-based photographer presents his images of The Great Northern Plains at Desert Pearl Gallery, February 5 – March 2, 2010.
Over the past five decades, Swenson has been photographing the world. “I have spent the last few decades traversing the back roads of the West (most recently the Heartland), documenting treasures of open spaces, remnants of rural life, and the marks of time on a rapidly changing society.”
Swenson’s ability to capture the present condition of abandoned farmlands and printing in traditional darkroom techniques presents a nostalgic view of the disappearing landscape.
Meet Lou Swenson at the artist’s reception Friday, February 5, 5-7 p.m. at the Desert Pearl Gallery, 40 West Main, Cortez, Colorado. The art reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. Winter gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.. For more information, call (970) 565-9320.
