The Living Tarot Oracle November 5th and 6th, 2011 Mancos Opera House

The Living Tarot Oracle, a sacred interactive theatrical event, returns for a second year at the Mancos Opera House, Saturday November 5th, 5-8pm and Sunday November 6th, 3-6pm.

This unique, interactive theatrical event, follows the success of last year’s event in early November, and will again utilize the ancient divination tool of the Tarot Cards with live “Oracles”. The Tarot Cards were the precursor to the modern day playing card deck and have been in use since the mid-15th century, originating in Europe. This event will include a living representation of each of the 22 major arcana cards of the Tarot Deck. Each of these “Living Oracles” will have an individual station in the Opera House and will be in full costume and character of that particular card.

6 Tarot card readers will assist each participant in framing a particular question they may have. Once the participants have pulled their 1-3 cards in relation to their question, they will be directed to the individual “Living Oracles”, reflecting the cards they drew.

Cost: $10 for a one-card reading, $5 for each additional card. Readings will be limited to 3 cards for each individual question.

This community-based event includes involvement of individuals from Mancos, Cortez, Dolores, Durango and Bayfield. The producers of the event, Tami Graham and Julia Hesse, are both from the Mancos area.

In addition, on Friday, October 28th, 7:30pm, at Yoga Durango on Florida Road, the public is invited to The Fool’s Journey through Movement, a 2-hour musical journey through the 22 Major Arcana cards of the Tarot deck, starting with The Fool card and ending with The Universe card. The Fool’s journey represents the spectrum of experiences of the human journey through life and includes cards such as the Emporer, Empress, Magician, High Priestess, The Hanged Man, The Sun, The Moon and many more. $10-$20 sliding scale, with proceeds to benefit the Living Tarot Oracle.
