The Lovell Sisters disband, cancel Jan. 22 show scheduled at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College

DURANGO, Colo. – The Lovell Sisters, known for their dramatic fusion of folk, country and contemporary acoustic music, have said “farewell,” disbanding the trio following a final January 16 concert in their hometown of Calhoun, Georgia. The January 22, 2010 show at the Community Concert Hall has been cancelled.

Sisters Megan (dobro) and Rebecca (mandolin) Lovell have announced plans to continue performing as a duo, with sister Jessica (fiddle) leaving the group to attend college in spring 2010. Over the past five years The Lovell Sisters have emerged as an international music sensation, drawing comparisons to Alison Krauss and Nickel Creek.

In a prepared statement The Lovell Sisters stated, “We want to send out our eternal love and thanks to the countless friends that we’ve made along our journey; without your help and without your support, we would never have been able to even begin to make our dreams a reality.”

Those holding tickets to The Lovell Sisters show at the Community Concert Hall may receive a full refund by visiting the Downtown Ticket Office at 7th and Main, or by calling 970.247.7657 or 877.282.9992.

The Community Concert Hall is located in the growing arts complex of Fort Lewis College.  It operates through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, as well as the city of Durango, and with financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
