Durango, CO: The dance floor will be open for the Official Blues Brothers Revue, coming to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, 7 p.m. The Official Blues Brothers Revue is the only Blues Brothers show sanctioned by Dan Aykroyd and the John Belushi Estate.

Jake and Elwood Blues – played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd – became musical, comedic and cinematic legends, immortalized in the hit movie “The Blues Brothers.” The Official Blues Brothers Revue combines the movie’s comedy, music and mayhem with songs from the five popular albums put out by Belushi and Aykroyd, for a faithful recreation of the characters, Jake and Elwood, and a tribute to Chicago’s rich history of blues, R&B and traditional soul music.

The Official Blues Brothers Revue features the 10-piece intercontinental rhythm & blues revue band, and a song set that includes staples such as “She Caught The Katy,” “Shake A Tail Feather,” “Minnie The Moocher,” “Sweet Home Chicago,” “Rubber Biscuit,” “Soul Man” and more.
Of the show, the Chicago Sun Times wrote, “Infectious and unbridled energy… it blows the roof off.”
Judith Belushi, John Belushi’s widow, has been a hands-on member of the show’s creative team. After auditioning more than 400 performers, she and Dan Aykroyd hand-picked veteran blues artists Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty to recreate the venerable Jake and Elwood Blues.

Catania (Jake) began his entertainment career in the mid-1970s as a drummer and vocalist touring with rock and R&B bands, gradually establishing the compelling stage persona that is now his trademark. Lafferty (Elwood) is an accomplished musician/singer/songwriter who has also performed in independent art films including the Sci-Fi musical “Synchronicity” and A&E’s “Lost in Las Vegas.”
Recently Catania and Lafferty joined creative forces with Judith Belushi and Anne Beatts (“Saturday Night Live”) to write the pilot for a television show based on the continuing adventures of Jake and Elwood.

The Official Blues Brothers Revue is produced for national tour by Springer Theatricals and directed by Paul R. Pierce. A promotional video of the show can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpbo9l_oWM&feature=youtube.

Tickets for the Official Blues Brothers Revue – $29/$39 – are available on-line at www.durangoconcerts.com or by calling 970.247.7657, or at the Ticket Office in Downtown Durango at 7th St. and Main Ave. All sales final.
Showtime is 7 p.m., with doors to the Concert Hall and concessions, serving beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, opening at 6 p.m.

The Community Concert Hall is a not-for-profit, multi-use performance venue located on the campus of Fort Lewis College. Its ability to bring a diverse spectrum of shows to Southwest Colorado is made possible through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, as well as through financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
