“The Passing Zone” brings comedy, juggling and amazing feats to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College Oct. 10

DURANGO, Colo. – The amazing act that garnered international notoriety as a finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” “The Passing Zone” will offer the closest thing to a world without gravity at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College, Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, 7:30 p.m.

The Passing Zone is Owen Morse and Jon Wee, unique comedian-jugglers. In the duo’s latest show, “Gravity Attacks,” they put gravity in its place, overpowering it with seemingly effortless dexterity as they toss chainsaws, torches, knives and more through the air.

Morse and Wee met originally in 1986 at a juggling convention, and won the Silver Medal at an International Jugglers’ Association Teams Competition just two weeks after their first performance. Morse and Wee are, however, known as much for their comedy as their juggling skills, and have opened for comedians including Bill Cosby, George Carlin, Bob Hope and Bob Newhart.

The Passing Zone has been awarded five Guinness World Records and 18 Gold Medals from the International Juggler’s Association (IJA). The duo was also presented with the IJA’s Award of Excellence for “excellence in the art of juggling through professional performance” – the most prestigious award in juggling, given to only 13 acts worldwide since the organization’s inception.

Perhaps defying description, The Passing Zone is said to be like The Flying Karamazov Brothers (but more hip), Penn & Teller (but cleaner), The Smothers Brothers (but younger), Cirque de Soleil (but American), Blue Man Group (but less blue) and Carrottop (but less “Carrottoppy”), all rolled into one.

Wrote “The Mustang Daily” (San Louis Obispo, Calif.), “Brilliant juggling sequences as well as comedic bantering and hilarious one-liners, they are worthy of rivaling such greats as Martin and Lewis or Abbott and Costello.”
