TOP – A Juried Garment Design Exhibition and Auction Fundraiser September 23

Artists are encouraged to start their design concepts for this year’s annual TOP event on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Durango Arts Center (DAC). TOP is a juried garment design exhibition and auction fundraiser to support adult programs at DAC.

The first pick-up for garments will be Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Durango Arts Center. Artists are encouraged to sign up early as garments are first come first serve, while supplies last. There will be a second pick-up opportunity Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9 if there are garments still available. The deadline for finished garments is Wednesday, August 24.

For an entry fee of $25, artists are provided with a stylish, high-quality t-shirt and invited to refashion it with their own innovative, original design. This year an accessory category is being added; artists will receive a yard of t-shirt fabric to create an original scarf, belt, purse, jewelry, etc. Juried designs will be modeled and auctioned at the catered TOP event in September. The event night will be preceded by a five-day exhibition of the garments. Artists receive a 50% commission on selected and successfully auctioned designs.
