TOP :: Where you want to be – A juried garment design exhibition and auction

 

New Face Productions (NFP) presents TOP, a juried garment design exhibition and auction to support programs at the Durango Arts Center (DAC). Eighty artists, submitting over 125 entries, from the region have applied to enter and are currently working on redesigning the garment blanks provided by NFP. Artists were asked to submit innovative, original designs and in return will receive a 50% commission on any designs successfully auctioned. From reconstruction to embellishment, artists are allowed to use any medium and technique to create their vision of their TOP design.

TOP jurors for the exhibition include local artists Ann Norris, Maureen May and Susan Wise. Production Jurors Kwi Lee and Kris Mesner, garment manufacturers from Los Angeles, will determine if any of the TOP designs are suitable for reproduction and will provide an introduction to the fashion market.

The TOP event will be held Saturday, October 16, 5:30 p.m. at the Durango Arts Center theatre. TOP will feature a cocktail hour, tapas, fashion show and live auction presented by local models, MC, Jeff Wise and auctioneer Calvin Story, silent auction and a fashion display from the Morley Ballantine Collection. Tickets are available at the DAC for $50.
