Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. for a late addition to the fall line-up at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College: Country music great Tracy Lawrence. “An Evening with Tracy Lawrence Unplugged” is set for Thursday, Nov. 18, 7 p.m., with special guest, local crossover-country artist D.L. Marble.

A multi-platinum recording artist, Tracy Lawrence is among the premiere country performers of his generation. Described as a sensitive and intelligent singer who continues to stretch both as an artist and as a person, Lawrence’s dedication to honesty and respect for tradition have enabled him to build one of the most revered careers in recent country music history.

Known for classics such as “Sticks And Stones,” “Texas Tornado” and “Alibis,” Lawrence has posted more No. 1 Billboard country singles than legendary performers including Glen Campbell or Barbara Mandrell. He’s also enjoyed more Top 5 hits than Shania Twain, Faith Hill or The Judds, and more Top 10 hits than Ricky Skaggs, Charlie Rich and Dwight Yoakam. Lawrence’s debut album, “Sticks And Stones” (1991) alone boasted four Top 10 country hits and launched him into the forefront of the decade’s young talents.

Originally from Foreman, Ark., and a self-described “hellion” as a youngster, Lawrence found release in performing. As a teenager, he was playing his brand of George Strait-inspired Southern rock at jamborees and honky-tonks, and by 1990 he moved to Nashville. A live appearance on a Kentucky radio station and a showcase at Nashville’s famed Bluebird Café led to his signing to Atlantic Records.

With his latest collection of musical stories entitled “The Rock” (2009), Lawrence shares his feelings on the strength of persistent hope and faith. A powerful, emotional overview of spiritual consciousness, “The Rock” is described as vintage Lawrence with a more thoughtful and passionate take on life.

Over the years Lawrence has received widespread recognition in the country music arena, winning numerous awards, but he’s also been active in charitable causes, performing at numerous benefit concerts as well as establishing his own Tracy Lawrence Foundation. Near and dear to his heart is the Alzheimer’s Association, as he raises funds to combat the disease that claimed his beloved grandmother. He has also helped raised more than $1 million to fight Cystic Fibrosis.

Lawrence is currently featured on a brand new compilation album entitled “I Wanna Play!” along with fellow country musicians Aaron Tippin, Lorrie Morgan, Ronnie Milsap and many more. The project was organized by Tippin and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee to raise funds to purchase musical instruments for children. It was unveiled Oct. 13, 2010 at the W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville.

Lawrence’s special guest, D.L. Marble, is called the best of the next generation of crossover-country. A small town boy, currently residing in Bayfield, Colo., Marble’s soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics contribute to his original, one-of-a-kind sound.

The Community Concert Hall is located in the arts complex of Fort Lewis College.  It operates through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, as well as the city of Durango, and with financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
