BID to host Coffee & Conversation on July 18 and 25
Meetings are an opportunity for constituents to contribute ideas, learn plans
Durango, CO – In an effort to gather new ideas and learn of challenges, as well as get to know the constituents of the Durango Business Improvement District (BID), the BID Coffee & Conversation (BCC) will continue in July. Up-coming get-togethers are set for Thursday, July 18 at Steaming Bean in Downtown Durango and July 25 at Durango Doughworks on North Main, 8:30 to 10 a.m.
The BCC program is an effort to gather new ideas from constituents, and learn of challenges, as well as allow BID Executive Director Tim Walsworth to personally get to know the people who make up the BID.
No appointments are necessary. BID constituents or any members of the community are invited to simply “drop-in” during the designated time period and enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee. As time permits, BID Community Relations Coordinator Pam Glasco may also join Walsworth at the meetings.
“The BCC program has worked very well, and we’ll just take a little hiatus during this busy summer season,” said Walsworth of the sessions that began in January 2013. “Our constituents have great ideas, and it’s a real pleasure to get to know them on a one-to-one basis in an informal setting. Plus I have been able to help keep folks informed of BID activities and other things that are happening in the District.”
Though the July BCCs will be the last for the summer, the meetings are anticipated to return in the fall, dates and locations to be announced. The Durango Business Improvement District was formed in 1997 with a goal and mission to support businesses within the District by assisting with special event marketing, providing research on topics of concern to the District (facilities, special events, best practices), planning and development of new facilities, and providing capital budget for equipment that enhances business in the District. Funding is generated by a 2 mill levy on property owners within the district, with additional marketing dollars contributed by the City of Durango and Durango Area Tourism Office.
