Business Improvement District announces Window Display winners

Merchants help put the “dazzle” in the Annual HOLiDAZZLE

Durango, CO – The winners of the 2013 Holiday Window Display Competition, sponsored by the Durango Business Improvement District (BID), have been announced.

In alphabetical order, “HOLiDAZZLing” window winners located within the District (which extends to North Main Ave.) are: Bank of Colorado, Bank of the San Juan’s Drive Through, Beads and Beyond, Dolce, Karyn Gabaldon Gallery, Pet Haus, Renae Marie Apparel, Silk Sparrow, Tippy Canoe and YESS the Book Hutch.

Annually, local merchants help deck Durango’s proverbial halls as part of the Annual HOLiDAZZLE celebration. The BID rewards their efforts, presenting each winner with a $50 gift card to a Downtown restaurant. Judging was held on Noel Night, Dec. 6, 2013.

“We’d also like to give a special mention and thanks to all the entities that came together to put new LED lights on the tree in Buckley Park,” added Tim Walsworth, BID executive director. “In addition to the BID, the tree was ‘lit’ thanks to Eagle Crane, Durango Motor Co., La Plata Electric Association and the City of Durango.”

The HOLiDAZZLE window display competition is part of the comprehensive, five-week umbrella marketing program sponsored by the BID to help draw both locals and visitors to Durango for shopping, dining, services, entertainment and fun.

In addition to the window decorating competition, HOLiDAZZLE helps promote more than 60 events or activities taking place in and around Downtown Durango. Approximately 60 Downtown merchants are also participating in the opportunity gift drawing, with gifts totaling more than $7,000. Participating businesses will hold their drawings within one week of the holidays and notify winners by phone.

“HOLiDAZZLE is a win-win for everyone,” said Walsworth. “Instead of focusing promotional efforts on just one or two events during the holidays, we are able to help spread the word about all the activities taking place. There is something for everyone to enjoy in Durango during HOLiDAZZLE.”
