District launches BID Coffee & Conversation program

BID Director Walsworth seeks, welcomes constituent input during casual gatherings

Durango, CO – In an effort to gather new ideas and learn of challenges, as well as get to know the constituents of the Durango Business Improvement District (BID), new BID Director Tim Walsworth has initiated a series of informal sessions, dubbed BID Coffee & Conversation (BCC). The first is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24, 8-9:30 a.m. at Durango Coffee Company.

“These will be literally what the title indicates – come have a cup of coffee with me and let’s have a conversation,” said Walsworth, who assumed the role of BID director on Jan. 2, 2013. “I need to know what’s going on and what our constituents want to see happen. And at the same time I can keep folks informed of BID activities and other things that will be happening in the District.”
No appointments are necessary. BID constituents or any members of the community are invited to simply “drop-in” during the designated time period. Locations will vary, and as time permits, BID Community Relations Coordinator Pam Glasco may also join the meetings.

“We’ve got some big changes coming within the District that will affect our constituents,” added Walsworth, noting the imminent construction on La Plata County’s downtown campus and CDOT’s redevelopment of the Hwy 160/Hwy 500 intersection. “We also want to make sure our constituents and all members of the community are aware of the downtown sidewalk improvement program, slated to start in March. We want to prepare businesses, and also help them in any way we can.”

All currently scheduled BID Coffee & Conversation sessions will be held 8 to 9:30 a.m. At this writing, BCC dates and locations are:

o Jan. 24, Durango Coffee Company

o Jan. 31, Steaming Bean

o Feb. 21, Carver Brewing Co.

o Mar. 21, Steaming Bean

o Apr. 4, Durango Joe’s – Town Plaza

o Apr. 18, Carver Brewing Co.
